I happened to see this group swatting at a pinata when I was leaving school today. When I asked them what they were doing, they told me they have been studying different cultures and they were finishing up a study of Mexico by trying to break a pinata shaped like a chili pepper. I went back to the a program catalog and learned this, " Daily activities include international-themed cooking, crafts, videos, games and children’s literature selections, plus outdoors activities so that campers can enjoy the summer weather." They were certainly doing that!
@jmj A pinata should have a tilde over the n to make a ny sound. It is a decorated container, usually made of paper mache that is filled with candies. The kids take turns being blindfolded and try to strike and break the container. When the candies fall to the ground from the broken pinata, the kids rush in and scoop them up.
