Yesterday, while we were waiting for our lecture, two empty tour busses pulled up to the Virginia Museum of History and Culture and idled by the curb. I asked one of the attendants at the information desk who they were waiting for, and it turned out to be the spouses of members of the Virginia General Assembly. They were touring the museum galleries and then would be taken to other significant sites in Richmond. Richmond, the state Capitol is centrally located but many of the counties are more than an easy drive away so I’m guessing there are a number of husbands and wives of delegates who aren’t familiar with the highlights of Richmond history. Her you see them converging on the gift shop of the VMHC, always a good place to end a tour!
