Sunday and time for a quick return visit to Iceland. Today my visit is to Krafla, a tuff mountain north of the highly active geothermal area of Námafjall and volcanic area around Lake Mývatn:
We walked around volcanic lakes, got as close to the Krafla Volcano as we could and marvelled at fumaroles and so on, but easily the most interesting aspect for me, the infrastructure nerd, was the huge Krafla geothermal power station, Iceland's largest power plant. The power plant sits very close to the still very active Krafla Volcano, itself on Iceland's hotspot.
