Windmills used to be an icon of the Australian farm. They provided a permanent water supply for early settlers, pumping both household water and water for stock. They have gradually been replaced by alternative pumping systems and many have fallen into disrepair. There are now only a small number of windmill manufacturers in Australia.
I liked the juxtaposition, in this view across the landscape, of the old windmills still pumping away with their newer, brasher and bigger 'cousins' visible in the background.
