Displacement

Mural on the corner of Jackson and Fitzroy Streets, St Kilda Melbourne, called 'Displacement'. It deals with the sense of hopelessness, depression, and coming apart at the seams in what has been one of the 'seamy' areas of Melbourne, where many of 'the forgotten folk' of Melbourne end up. From the artist, Bailer, 'They use this corner to beg for change and to bum cigarettes. A few colourful characters kept me company while I painted this mural. All with stories to tell.'

I liked the gentleman walking in front of the mural who was not the least bit interested in any stories. He stepped off the footpath and onto the road to go around the mural.

the wonky signposts just add to the artwork . Are they part of the art or just wonky signposts . FAVED

It helps to give perspective of the size of the artwork in comparison with the man who has no interest at all.

A fabulous street capture. Love the signs on each signs trying to make room (or escape) the man depicted on the mural.
