Detail of the statue of Mary McKillop, beatified in 1995 (the first Australian to be recognized as a saint), inside the old St Stephen's Church, Brisbane, (now St Stephen's Chapel), claimed to be the oldest existing church in Queensland. The statue, by sculptor John Elliott, is carved from a 100-year-old scented camphorwood tree with the face carved from the wood of a jacaranda tree.
