to the best of my knowledge - much of which comes from reading and googling - this is a "Long-Legged Fly" - please let me know if it is something else.
Adults range in size from about 1-9 mm in length and can be recognized by their elongate legs, reduced wing venation, aristate antennae, and relatively slender build. Most species are metallic greenish-blue to greenish-bronze.
Holy cow, that's a great fly. Last year the pests left me and I felt quite bereft. We used pesticide very sparingly, so I keep feeling like it was the end of days ahead. Even my apple tree did not bear fruit, but I see this and think, "ahhhhh, the fly, still around, even if very tiny). :)
@darylo lol I know what you mean - pesticides are all but taboo here as my daughter has a penchant for invertebrates and thus there are pet spiders, scorpions and the like in the house at odd times.
I go bug hunting outside and get excited about this fly
Fabulous shot, I love this one. sorry I have been out of touch while we have been away. Will try and catch up now we are home, but I think I need to catch up on some sleep too. I'm knackered!
