I had the intention of cleaning up my hard drives but as is often the case I get distracted and waylaid - I came across photos of some of the Aussies animals I have had the pleasure of getting to know and that led me to my theme for January.
Oceanworld Manly was a public aquarium located in Manly, Sydney, Australia. It originally opened in 1965, as Marineland and I remember visiting as a child and adult and taking my kids there. In 2018 it was closing for good and they were offering discounts on Shark Dive Xtreme. My youngest gave it to me as a birthday present, she also gifted me the "Cage of Death" a couple of years before, should I be worried? Hahahahaha I will add she joined me for both :)
My concern here was not the sharks but being able to negotiate the SCUBA gear.
@Weezilou she was a volunteer at Taronga and the Reptile Park while she was studying and has worked at two other wildlife parks over the last decade or so.

Grey Nurse sharks are generally harmless to humans but when I was a teenager they were unfairly blamed for attacks on swimmers.
The grey nurse shark is one of the most critically endangered shark species and believed to be the first protected shark in the world. It was declared 'vulnerable' in the waters of New South Wales (Australia) in 1984 and later throughout the world.
This experience was in a marine aquarium where they are well fed haha....but divers do swim among them off our coast without incident.
