Picton by annied

Picton

You all know I love trains - and not a surprise I love train stations too. So This month I am going to post images of some heritage stations on the Southern Highlands Line. First operating in 1869, the service runs from Campbelltown across the Main Southern railway line through to Goulburn. I haven't visited all the stations yet - I am interested in the ones that are heritage listed.
I am starting with Picton - it was built from 1863 to 1919. I was there on my way back from Mossvale.
The design of the Picton station building is attributed to John Whitton and is a fine example of a simple Victorian Georgian style station building that remains substantially intact.
Wonderful image. My goodness, so much train history in Australia!

very timeless coloring. Just paint in some more old fashioned dress and this could be in a different century
