I've got a chest harness for my camera: mainly for Nordic Walking, when I can't be having it dangling from my wrist, nor stopping all the time - which is exactly why I'm doing Nordic Walking! Anyway, took it for a test run (stroll). It's about 18" lower than where I'd hold it and the angle is iffy because of where it sits on my 'torso'. However, metering is 100 times better than I feared when I was taking sneak peeks along the way. I took it off the mount a couple of times, and also tilted my body/held camera while it was still mounted. Will do more testing - and lots more getting used to looking a bit odd!
A chest harness sounds like a perfect answer! So you can start shooting from the chest instead of shooting from the hip. Lovely scenery to be walking in
thank you @777margo @jodies thanks - our dry stone walls may find themselves featuring more often now!
green for you @narayani
it's not very discreet @seacreature I did some snapping from the hip once but best candid results were when I had a mirror lens on my old SLR: camera looked as though it was pointing one way, but was actually taking pictures another!
and @maureenpp quirky I can live with :-)
