Monica commented on what a lovely journal book I had, and I wanted to show it off for all of you. I saw it at a local bookstore. Its hand made by a local artist and when I saw it, I had to have it! I was hoping such a lovely book would entice me to use it in a special way. I'm also showing off my dad's gold fountain pen that is fun to write with.....
@theredcamera what a fabulous cover to your journal. I can see why you were attracted to it. A great collage and very nice composition showing your dads pen.
@theredcamera I really like the simplicity of your painting and the beauty of your journal. I also like the composition for the bottom photo especially.
@theredcamera Oh dear me! That sketchbook screams: TAKE ME! Wonderful sketchbook indeed. And if the paper holds watercolour as well, that's just the cherry on the cake. Simply fantastic. Thanks for sharing that.
That fountain pen looks glorious. I'd love to see a closeup of the nib. What kind of ink do you use with it?
PS: Try not to be too precious about the gorgeous sketchbook. Just use it. Please! Please! Please! (I know I tend to be precious about the best materials that end up laying uselessly around. Hence the note.)
@30pics4jackiesdiamond@grammyn@wakelys@ankers70@randystreat@salza Thanks all for visiting and your comments! I need to get in the habit of regularly adding to the book! @monikozi Unfortunately the paper isn't too compatible with watercolors, but I try to use less water. I will macro photo that fountain pen. Unfortunately the ink (Parker) I have for the pen is water soluble, so I draw on the dry painting. I'm getting so much support from all of you! Thank you!
@theredcamera Well, you should not mind very much the buckles in the paper when you use water. Those just add character to the sketchbook. I just love the feel of a sketchbook with buckled paper. It is so... used.
As for the water soluble ink, you can definitely use that to your advantage. I love using water soluble ink and then add water to create shadows or watercolour and let the watercolour activate the ink and bleed into it. I too was 'scared' by the idea of watersoluble ink, until I saw this: https://youtu.be/8u6n5XT6cIY
and there is another one with her adding watercolour to inked outlines, but I can't find it now. It was just like she does in the video above, only instead of just adding water, she's picking up some watercolour as well. Fabulous effects.
