Bittersweet

My father asked me tonight to do his banking and write his checks for him from now on. Of course I am happy to help him with whatever he needs. But it does make my heart sink alittle to witness my sharp and independent 93-year-old father start to struggle with tasks he always took care of.
A very touching photo.

I know exactly what you mean. I am pretty much in the same position - watching my parents, once so resourceful and and managing to get by on very little, now coping with less and less

We had to take all that away from my mother. She just couldn't remember. She also was an easy mark for telephone scammers who got her permission to debit her bank account but didn't send the goods. It was very difficult straightening it all out. It's hard to watch for us but much easier when parents have enough sense to realize they can't do it anymore and ask for help.

@meotzi you're absolutely right , and I am very grateful for that. He gave up his drivers license on his own to which was a relief.
