It caught my eye !! by beryl

It caught my eye !!

It looked quite interesting in the evening glow ,as we got back to the car -- but what is it and what is it used for ? We were in a hilly sheep terrain !! The Metal part could be a sort of a trailer then there was a wooden crate with a great big bundle of hessian backed material -- what is it ? what is it used for ? Anyone know !!
At first sight, I thought they were sheep. How interesting! Well found. I hope someone knows.

We have had a look but not much idea except that perhaps something to do with shearing...it's that time of the year & the shorn wool is collected in big sacks like these. Not sure why they would be outside though unless it's there to be collected.

What an interesting find Beryl - it makes a great subject for your shot.

A great find - it has a homemade feel to me. A feed and plough?? ツ

Can`t see it clear . Has it wheels ? No ? Than I think it`s a crate to collect a harvest. Or to supply seeds . The iron works are then to connect it to a tractor or lorry (car)

yes it is a box on gear for lifting with a tractor :O)

@happypat Pat -- your answer makes sense - as we were on NAT TRUST land with sheep roaming around . And as a child I remember going with my dad ( who was not a farmer ) to help in a local farm ! and I would help the farmers wife prepare the lunch and lay the long kitchen table . In those days shearing was done by hand and neighbouring farmers went to help one another in shearing time .such community feeling among the village !

Such an interesting shot and I guess the sheep sheering theory would make sense.

@beryl I'm pretty sure that iron work fits onto a tractor so this can be moved around.

Hubby (who knows just about everything (lol)) says its just a trailer that that a tractor can back up to and put it on the hydraulic lift and then away! Lovely summery feel to this!

A lovely shot. A fun mystery too. I think Maggiemae's husband in right but they might be hauling off sheep wool.
