Cologne Carnival by bizziebeeme

Cologne Carnival

We went to the Cologne for a couple of nights and the carnival was on, the atomosphere is amazing the town is buzzing. We dropped our case at the hotel then strolling into the town came across the carnival. We stood watching for a couple of hours and gathered a lot of choclates as they throw them from the floats while passing. They also throw bags, teddies, little bottle of drink/ perfume, flowers - hubby caught me a red rose. We then went for a drink and a bite to eat at the station came out and the carnival was still going on so stood watching it by the Dom where this picture was taken. At around 5;15 i was cold and needed a hot drink so we left but the carnival was still going on!
If anybody know more about the carnival such as nubbel burning, grandstand seating, and carnivals that take place on the Tuesday around the area of Cologne would love to know as I would love to go again next year or so. Much appreciate any info.
I remember seeing this float as well. ( you might want to have a look at the shots I posted for Feb 12 http://365project.org/khirsch/365/2013-02-12 and http://365project.org/khirsch/bits-and-pieces/2013-02-12
