Today the world remembers the Apollo 11 Space Team. It was 50 years ago today that the Apollo 11 was launched. Four days later Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin would walk on the moon.
On July 15, 1969 Norman Rockwell came out with this print of the space team.
I decided to share my copy of that print with everyone on this day
What a momentous occasion that was, though at the time I was only 7 & didn’t really understand what all the fuss was about! I think these days there would have been far more hype & I would probably have been more aware! Enjoying the reruns of footage at the moment though!
That would be an awesome print to have. I remember this time very well, I was a teenager then. It is hard to believe that it has been 50 years, time has flown by.
I was a teenager and I remember my father setting up his camera to photograph it. Space exploration seemed quite natural to me- I didn't realize how momentous it was to my father and mother- it was something they'd only seen in the movies and here it was actually happening! I love Norman Rockwell's art- and this picture was one of his best.
I was 17 years old and working the soda fountain at a local drug store. The owner had the radio on, so we heard when they landed on the moon. I can still remember where I was standing & how emotional I felt.
@olivetreeann My mother did the same thing. She got the living room as dark as she could & took a picture of the TV screen when they walked on the moon.

I was almost two years old that summer - and it’s on eof my earliest memories, watching the Moon landing with my Dad.
