A rubbish day at work got me thinking..
I remember when saturdays weren't about going to work, or doing chores. They were about going to the local newsagents to spend my eagerly awaited pocket money on sweets & comics! Then I would hang out with my friends exploring, making dens, playing hide-and-seek and playing Gin Rummy - my Mum would have to drag me home for tea.
..... oh I wish life was still that simple!
(this is a copy of 'Cheeky' comic, from 1978 but the lollipop a whole lot fresher!)
OMG...Flashback time! Yes, anyone who owned a pile of comic books was automatically a "new best friend"! And the first club I ever belonged to was of my own making..."The Bubblegum Chewers and Comic Readers"! (Yes, God's truth!) We'd hang out in the basement of the house where we lived outside Chicago back around 1953-55. Those were the days! Thanks for the great photo memory!
Herman broke down so back home now. Boo hoo!
