Leeds Jail (formally Armley Gaol) was built in 1847, a typical Victorian jail... I pass the building a lot, but its a bugger to try and photograph! The front is heavily guarded and closed, and the rest is surrounded by walls and a housing estate. I'd love to see it closer because its a gorgeous old building, but I guess I shouldnt moan that I cant! Grins.
Lovely day in Leeds today, went out and about exploring a bit before the rain comes back ;-)
This is an amazing photo--I love that estate in the background too. I'm getting all sorts of uncomfortable imagery in my head associated with that title, however, lol
@clarissajohal he he, its not as bad as you may think! There was an old British tv sitcom that ran here for years about prison inmates called Porridge.
So this is where the inmates go if they never get parole! Great shot. Isn't strange how people just don't get references. It's like some of the American names thrown out here...I think, who are they talking about??
Interesting perspective that makes the headstones in front very dark. I like it, but would love to see more building too. Too bad you can't get closer.
In China would the show be called congee? lol. Dont know what the local slang is for jail here but I do know a cambodian jail is one place I would definately not want to be getting too close to.
