@kali66@jack4john On a positive note, something like this was built recently in South Dakota. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapel_in_the_Hills My husband and I got married at this church in South Dakota because it is a Stave Church and it fulfilled his 'viking' obsession. (we are not religious people but humanists and loved the art and creativity of this structure)
@kali66 Yes, he is fascinated by the history. I bought the plane tickets for his 40th b-day. Helps that Norwegian airlines flies nonstop Los Angeles to Oslo for super low prices...I paid $470 (including taxes) each round trip. I can't fly around the states for that price sometimes! I did have to buy a separate ticket from Phoenix to LAX, but it's a quick (under 1 hour) flight, and added $99 each. Norwegian airlines is new to the US market and are trying to lure customers with inexpensive fares, and it's working. We did the same thing sept 2014, LAX to Stockholm for the same price. As long as these fares exist, we're going to buy them!
Its similar here in new zealand it is cheaper to go to
australia than other parts of our country. not that i go anywhere, nz is so far from everywhere else.
I like the idea that if you find a place on the globe or a timeframe fascinating, or even have a fear of it, then you are linked to it in past life.
To have an appreciation for history is a gift. This coming from a confirmed history nut and geek. This shot reminds me of fairy tale books that I remember. Glad that the air fares were so sweet.
