Today I walked the coastal track between Takapuna and Milford. It’s neither a long or strenuous walk, but does have gorgeous sea views and to the houses that line the beaches

I like your title. In parts of coastal Australia, these humble abodes are being replaced with similar structures. Sounds like a great walk to be doing.

@kali66 that tree indeed! Being a native pohutakawa - it cannot be removed - so i think they are allow to trim branches from time to time
