This grade 2 listed building in St Neots is known as Paines Mill Foyer and dates to about 1890. It was originally a flour mill owned by James Paine who was also the owner of a brewery on the market square. In the early days it was used as a flour and saw mill and also traded in a variety of products including malt, coal, slates and bricks. Today it provides affordable accommodation for up to 19 single homeless people between the ages of 19 and 25. Support is given to residents to develop independent living skills, many of whom move into accommodation of their own and are self- supporting.
Thanks for your encouragement with my b&w project and for getting Betty onto the PP again. You're all stars.
Gosh Judith I didn't realise that this building was still there and obviously it's being used for a good cause. I remember it as a child as it was opposite the cattle market where I used to go with my grandfather. Congrats on PP by the way. Betty certainly looked adorable!
gr8 pov and grey scale ranges . the birds give it a somewhat sinister feeling !
