Taking stock of my supply of live oak. Maybe by the time I cut the blanks I will have found my lathe.
I have found a site that describes rolling pins and is not consistent in its own description. A baker's pin is max 10 inches (240mm) with handles, a pastry roller is 21-27 in. (534-700mm) and a Tortilla roller is 10-13 in. and an inch in diameter (could just go to the store and buy a dowel). No mention of the French style with tapered ends.
Think I will plan for the heavy pastry style. Live Oak is heavy.
