While unloading a truck load of lawn trimmings today at the local landfill, a worker saw me taking photos and told me about an old abandoned cemetery on the perimeter of the landfill. I put the truck in 4 wheel drive and headed down over the hill, crawled up over a gate and trespassed on the edge of a farm (the worker said the owner wouldn't mind) to reach the small fenced in cemetery. The gate to the cemetery was chained, but a large tree had fallen across the fence, making a place I could cross. Tall yellow wildflowers had taken over the cemetery making it difficult to find the tombstones... I uncovered this one.
Nice find.....these old cemeteries are always interesting. If you drive through Maine you can find many of these small old family cemeteries tucked away along roadsides and in wooded areas,
