This lady, whom I met on the street, was wondering how models walk when they get older. In fact, she said, she's so skinny and has trouble walking." But, she concluded, even Jesus was skinny to fit on that cross. What about God? Is he skinny you think?" I did not have an answer. If you wonder, she was pleased to have her picture taken
An interesting portrait or study. By eliminating the environment around her,?you force us the viewers to focus on her face in a way me might not have chosen to otherwise. Her face is very expressive. I am sure that she was quite happy to pose for you because she was proabably quite pleased to be in a discussion with you and still treated as a human being with concerns and questions and opinions. Many older people feel marginalized by society that no longer values them. Perhaps that is not a problem in Italy. Bust I feel that it is one here. Your kindness has most likely given her the comfort to share her expressive face with you. It is a most soulful study.
@paul10@peadar thank you for your comment. As a matter of fact I was going out to try to take pictures and she stopped me out of the door to discuss her reflections. A godsend.:-)
@mbrutus It is true, she was pleased that someone would seriously be listening to her. Her face was so mobile that it was hard to focus (and in fact the portrait is a little soft). Old people have problems in Italy too even though they (we) are the majority of the population.
@caterina sorry to heart that. It is much the same here. Particularly for women. Many of whom fear a lunge into homelessness,!shouldbthe public safety net fail.

Haphazard! In general if I only have one it goes into 365, if I have two one goes into additions and the third ends up in "more". @mbrutus How's your stay in Seattle?
@mbrutus I hope the risk of homelessness at present is quite low, because of the strong family ties still resisting in Italy, plus the existence of homes for old people that are very expensive if you have the money, but can be on the public system for those who cannot afford to pay. Not that they are wonderful places...Things will probably change in the future because many young people, especially cultured ones, are going abroad, in search of stable jobs, the so called brain drain. Despairing trend, in my view, both because young people are the lymph of a country, and because nobody will pay the future pensions. Even more discouraging if you think that these youngsters with university degrees have been maintained by the public system all along, paying nothing until the end of high school and ridiculous taxes in most Universities.
