Lake Opuha #2 by chikadnz

Lake Opuha #2

We decided to stay a second night at this lovely freedom camping spot near Fairlie, in Canterbury.
Lake Opuha is a man-made lake for the purpose of generating hydro-electric power. Today we visited the dam and then walked around part of the lake on a 4WD track (closed to vehicles) to find some geocaches - and enjoy the views!

The day started cold and overcast but improved to blue skies and sunshine.
How stunning - I have never been there

@dkbarnett We do too! Hoping to see more of it before the autumn leaves all drop.

@christinav Thanks, you should visit sometime. I think the Mackenzie Country is my favourite part of NZ.

@robz Thanks, yes it was peaceful. Other than a couple walking their boxer dogs we didn't see anyone else on the track.
