Okay, so I'm drawing attention to the flaws in this picture. I loved this shot -- except for the sunspots and orange trees! I would really appreciate your suggestions on how I could improve the picture. I used Picasa and tried to use the retouch but it didn't really help. Any suggestions?
I really like this picture....love the trees running slightly downhill....if I were to make any changes i think I would use the saturation effect to try and boost the sky colours...but all in all a very nice shot...to prevent those highlight blow outs I often use a ND fader filter ( variable neutral density filter)
You may have problems finding a ND filter that fits the Coolpix (but, you could try things like shooting through an ND filter you were handholding or shooting through a light pair of sunglasses. Experimenting is fun!
@jayberg - Thanks so much for the helpful tips. I'm not familiar with the filter you're referring to but I'll see what I can find and I'll try the saturation to see if it boosts the sky color. I appreciate your help!
@tthompsonca - It's funny that I seem to be able to take great sunset pictures but the sunrise pictures never turn out. I'll let you know what I find out on the filter.
The lines and the shadows are so unique. The only thing I would do and you can still do it on picnik here is saturate the sky just a tad. Otherwise, perfect! The light on the trees don't bother me at all and kind of enhance the scene.
@jgilker - Thank you Jessika! I so wanted to get it just right because I loved the shadows of the trees and the sunset but I really don't like the orange trees!
