Watchers from the Rooftop

Yesterday we visited my husband's parents in Winchester. They were kind enough to take me downtown to take some pictures. I really had a nice time with them.

This old building has been abandoned and I loved the crumbling bricks and peeling paint on the building. I'll post more in my other albums. I think these are buzzards, by the way.

Sorry I've been MIA but I just haven't been inspired lately. I need to catch up on all of your great pictures! Hope you all have had a good weekend.

If you have time, the details look so much better viewed large.
Nice shot - I was in Winchester recently - and I always seek out abandoned buildings.

I thought you'd beaten me on this one - couldn't place it at all......

........But then I realised you weren't in the real Winchester - the one I had been exploring, you were in New Winchester!

@styru - This is Winchester, Kentucky. Is that where you were?

We are not that far apart geographically and the weather is getting to all of us. The last time we were through Winchester it was a blip on the map. I love Natural Bridge State Park.

@cindymc - Exactly Cindy, you were in 'New ' Winchester - which is about 280 years old.

I was in Winchester - which is over 4,000 years old as a settlement....

Neat capture, Cindy! The building on the left appears really tall. Love the contrasting textures and the buzzards really add to the feeling of abandonment.

Love the historic buildings an all state of repair and disrepair. They tell the story of the cities.

Those are turkey vultures. I love old abandoned buildings but rarely find one. I was lucky to find the church and thank you for the fav! Really cool capture--I'm surprised it's not condemned. The vultures make it look extra eerie!

I like those turkey vultures on the rood and the crumbling brick is awesome. Nice find!

what a great old building....love it

I like the peeling paint, crumbling bricks and fading sign. Buzzards seem appropriate for the dying structure!
