Whitehaven in Cumbria used to be a huge exporter of coal, the last remaining mine was closed in 1986 and in 1997 the pit reopened as a museum, sadly now closed due to financial difficulties.

Such a shame that the museum has closed too. These buildings are the countries heritage so I hope they get preserved.
