Tate Hill Pier by craftymeg

Tate Hill Pier

The oldest pier in England and possibly the world, that is what the info board tells you. In the 1100s it was a loose stone jetty then in early 1300s a more permanent pier was built and in the 1700s the pier was extended to 105 meters. In later years the lifeboat was moored there and in the late 1800s postcards were sold depicting a busy key side. I have been on it several times but didn't know it's history until the info board arrived.
It has been a lovely warm day humid and 22c but terrible light conditions so helped with a touch of HDR.
Better on black

Looks fantastic on black. Would like to see this as a jigsaw puzzle. Would also make a wonderful painting. Lots of interest here!

It is really neat on black - so much color. Quite a history, too.
