The North York Moors are coming alive with the early purple Heather. It flowers a month and more before the true Heather. It's a different variety, much brighter and grows in clumps along the edges of the road, there is not as much of it but it's a very welcome sight on a barren moor. Next month sees the main variety come into flower and the heathland becomes alive for just a few weeks before it becomes barren again......
Better on black
Thank you for all your comments and favs all are very much appreciated
Great shot of this nice heather. Our country has beautiful Heater fields to, but I`ve to dive to other parts witch I often have done in Autumn to capture toadstool pic.`s
I am currently reading a book by Thomas Hardy - The Return of the Native - and it is centred on heathland and there are some wonderful descriptions of the heath. So this shot comes as a pleasant surprise to me. Beautiful wild flowers.
