I thought I would post a photo of a subject that's been in the news this past week.
The umbrella bike and mini tent looked so lonesome sat in front of the foundry.
This is one of my favourite subjects to photograph, it's the troubled Redcar Iron Foundry that's in big money trouble and close to closing down yet again. There is enough coal to keep it running another week and the work force have been paid this month but next month is another story. They are hoping for a government bailout but it's not going to happen, there are a lot of jobs at stake one of them a member of my family........

Thank you once more for comments and favs seeing yesterday's photo on both pages.
This is a great viewpoint to match your comments.
We visited Redcar a few weeks ago for a family wedding. Our cousin used to work at these steel works until he retired recently. It would be such a shame & loss for the area it it were to shut down. Fav from me.
@dizzyd it was such a lonely sight this afternoon, no steam from the chimneys, it would be such a great loss to us all. Please could you revisit my photo and press the fav button again as it didn't register. Many thanks
So sad when a business is threatened with closure. But what a wonderful image! The tranquil setting of the bike, parasol and tent along with the sad background of a Foundry struggling to survive.
It's so hard to see our industrial sites at such risk. Jobs, economics, personal identities, homes, etc. all at stake. Your photo is a brilliant contrast of the foundry/industry and the leisure lone isolated person below.
Fav. Splendid capture and contrast. A very sorry story but I guess coal mines all around the world have been having bad times for quite a long time. Hope the employees who lose their job will find another one very easily.
I hate to hear that for your community and your family member. The economy in the town I live in has been depressed for a number of years due to furniture and textile plants closing. Small business are coming in slowly, but not enough jobs to place those who were ousted. Especially those who worked in those plants for so much of their lives.
