Thorp Perrow by craftymeg

Thorp Perrow

This is the Manor House that lies beyond yesterday's photo of Fern Avenue.

Thorp Perro can be traced back to the Doomsday Book where it was listed as Torp Manor House treeless and uncultivated.
The trees were planted from the 16th and 17th centuries. More were planted between 1840 /50s from seeds brought over from America. Another flush were planted from 1931 onwards by Sir Leonard Roper who died in 1977 and from then to the present day his son Sir John Roper manages the running, design and planting of this unique collection of trees.
