"Attunga" (an Aboriginal word meaning "high place")
this mansion was built on 4.5 acres in 1900. In 1944 it was given by Otto van Rieben to the City of Burnside, Adelaide with the stipulation that the house and gardens be maintained. The Burnside Council decided to build a 3 story hospital on part of the property as a principal war memorial. The mansion is now used as a medical centre and the beautifully maintained gardens are for the use of patients and public.
