the road ahead

not many cars on the road as we left Broken Hill and I could stand in the middle of the road quite safely. However, we passed many wallabies and even an emu dead on the road. Drivers need to be very watchful especially at dusk. They can make a mess of your car but there are some very well fed crows in the area.
Boo
not much of anything around! wouldn't like to be stuck there without transport!

Much more traffic and they will need traffic lights.
David hit a roo on the road just outside Gundagai quite a few years ago. It was almost midnight and the pack of roos were near the roadside looking for water during a very dry spell and terrible bush fire season. One of the pack decided to leap across the road and caused $3500 worth of damage to the car.

I love an open stretch of road like this- and how fun to be able to stand in the middle and get this shot!

I can see the vastness of this place and pity the animals are collided with human in such a tragic way.

Great depiction of the road. I think this problem of the danger to wildlife on the highways exists despite efforts by the authorities.

@huvesaker no not much. No phone coverage either.

@seattlite thankyou Gloria

@frappa77 @gaylewood @nicoleterheide thankyou Francesca, Gayle and Nicole. There's something about an open road vanishing into the distance isnt there

@happypat they certainly are in the outback Pat. Our English relatives cant get over the straight roads and no cars

@pyrrhula @dawnee thankyou both

@onewing that must have been a nasty experience. You just cant tell when they will jump out

@olivetreeann it is so quiet and peaceful

@777margo me too Margo

@yaorenliu always sad to see the animals that have been killed

@veengupta thankyou Veena. There's really nothing you can do to stop the animals one just has to be very cautious at the times you are more likely to see them such as at dusk

@ninaganci thankyou Nina. I asked my husband to stop the car and there were no other cars in the distance so I had plenty of time to position myself in the middle of the road
