a hot drive home

Adelaide's temperature of 46.7C today broke the previous highest record set in 1939. I could barely touch the steering wheel and had to steer with finger and thumb for a while!

yikes Chris it's beyond frightening! I do use the cheap windscreen sun shades in my car. I have 2 of them so I can drape them at each side to keep the sun off the seat too. We are not getting as much heat up here (I'm nearly on the QLD border), but the dry is shocking. Drink lots of water!

I too cannot touch the car steering wheel first thing in the morning but for the opposite reason - it freezes my hands until the car warms up by which time I have normally reached my destination.

Good grief Chris - that's ridiculous. 48 is mad - it's a wonder you could drive at all. Even Birdsville was only 45, but it was for 5 days!
