Upcycling

Today I dropped off some unwanted things to the local op shop which raises money for Animal Welfare. I couldn't miss a chance to look for a bargain and found a beautiful brand new hand knitted woollen jumper far too big for my husband. So for a mere $10 I purchased the treasure and tonight (trying not to think of all the time and effort put into making the garment) I began to unravel it and wind it into balls so I can knit a new jumper in the the right size! To buy new wool would have cost me $80 - $100 so by giving I have received far more :)
great shot. Simple but effective pov

Great sentiment....we like mend or make do. This jumper looked amazing, think I would have just washed it as everything I wash always shrinks ! Good luck with the new project.

Super photo of this gorgeous yarn, and well done on your generosity and its reward :) I've never thought of doing this - what a good idea.

You did quite a bargain here. Pity a lovely jumper like that has to be unravelled.

@pennystot ha ha. will take me a while but will take a pic when its finished
@naomima thankyou Naomi
@teiko its quite hard to find handknitted jumpers in the op shops but well worth the effort of unravelling. I have knitted one for myself. You need to wind wool into skeins and then wash to get the crinkles out before knitting it up again.
@whatsfordessert thankyou
@maddalena thankyou Maddalena
@deu49097 thankyou Dawn
@sangwann Yes Dione, it did seem a shame as it had been beautifully knitted but at least it will have a new life
@lilminimonka @cimes1 @gigiflower thankyou for your comments. it will be a while before its finished but will take a pic for sure :)

That's very clever! Love the idea of use and re-use. We do that with our old furniture.

Love up cycling and do quite a bit of it myself :) Thanks for the follow and I will follow you too !

That is a good deal but I am lazy to think of unravelling it. It has a nice shine am sure the new one you knit will look nice. Captures the unravelling well.
