Beach Bird

Don't know what kind of bird this is but his magnificent red beak and legs caught my eye. He was loving fossiking around in the small waves
After some googling it looks like a black oystercatcher.what do you think

It is a very brave bird, not afraid of you at all ;) Nice collage. i like how the red colour of the frame matches the bird's legs :)

What a striking bird. I had to look up the word "fossiking" as I'd never heard it before. Apparently only used in Australia, New Zealand and Cornwall! I learn such a lot lot from this site. :)

I always think these Oyster Catchers look so comical. Love your photos, especially of the one walking out of the surf.

Wow that oystercatcher looks like it's going to a party dressed in black and red lips, erm beak! Fossiking, oystercatcher can't wait to flaunt my new knowledge on my friends. That way I will memorise them too :)

@anjalikoli the black and red of the oyster catcher is what caught my eye. Rosie identified the bird and I didnt know fossiking was limited to Australia New Zealand and Cornwall! the things you learn on this site
