St Joseph's Catholic Cathedral - Noumea

This cathedral was built with convict labour around 1887. The plans for the cathedral were made by a former prisoner. It dominates the town centre and stands on a man made hill above the town looking towards the harbour. The holy water stoups are made from the shells of giant clams.

Thankyou all for your comments and favs on my holiday pics. Now that I am home I shall settle down to looking back over your projects. I think I will use more of my Pacific Island photos to finish off the month.
Nice collage with neat architecture and texture.
