After taking still life shots of fruit, I thought about combining a potted primrose with an apple. Ah! I had a light bulb moment. I kept trying to get more light onto the fruit. After seeing this shot, I realize that I need to get less light, not more light, on the fruit. I am still playing around with getting a good sepia shot. I got better focus on the eyes of birds when I was shooting them today. Today was a "take baby steps" day. Tomorrow is another day.
Cute combo! Don't know whether I like the close crop or would rather see the edges of the apple and the flower ... bird eyes are tough - keep working on it!
Nice job! I see what Katie is saying, but I don't mind the missing edges as much. I think you could have gone high key with this if you wanted to, but I like that you chose to bring out the color instead. You just need a little more saturation for some depth in the color. Nice shot!
@jle__ Thanks. I have had to shoot with a lot of backlighting this week due to the time of day I had to shoot my pictures. I was glad to have a different time of day to shoot pictures for today's shot.
@pyrrhula Thank you for your comment about my photo. Thank you for telling me about why the combination of fruit and flowers is not good. Fortunately, the apple and the primrose were together for only this photo shoot.
(Often the combination of fruit and (cut) flowers are no good. Fruits make some gas (ethyleen) that wilt/wither ? flowers)
