An important aspect about still life photos is the lighting. I certainly found out about this as I shot still life shot after still life shot. I kept saying, "This can't be this hard." However, it was for me this week. I came up with some interesting shots of individual apples and indiviudal lemons, but my ultimate goal was to get a good photo of a group of apples in one of my mother's blue bowls.
I had success with sepia today. The turning point came when I added a sepia toned vignette touch to the sepia photos.
Thanks to all of you for all of your great suggestions this week as I struggled with still life photos and sepia photos.
This is very nice. Were you trying for more vibrant colors so that the blue and red play off each other? If so, I think the lighting is a bit on the darker side and maybe putting the apples and bowl closer to the light source may help. But if you weren't then ignore what I just said! It's nice as it is too.
Love the choose of the colors and the beautiful lighting
