I was almost ready to dump out the bell pepper plant that I nursed through the winter. Then, I noticed that it had one blossom. There are even more flower buds in the top left hand corner of this photo. The plant is safe! It gets to stay.
This week I am working on focus, DOF and background. For this shot, I really worked on the background. Wherever I placed the camera and however I tilted the camera, I got a distracting background. I placed a sheet of black paper behind the plant and this seemed to solve the background issue. It is another story concerning the blue reflecltion I got off the leaves. I decided to just accept the blue color on the leaves, because I don't have the skills at this current time to deal with that issue. I decided to deal with one photography issue at a time.
I hope someone will comment on that blue outline because I've had that happen and have no idea why or what causes it to do that. Like you, one thing at a time! The little pepper plant sets off nicely against the black (I used my black winter scarf the other day when I was playing with a daffodil - worked) Really nice detail on your center.
Where there's a blossom, there may be a pepper on the way! I'm not really sure what causes the blue reflection although it could possibly be the way the light is playing off of your black paper. It's still a lovely blossom though and a very nice shot.
Nice composition. You achieved success with focus, DOF and background. Not sure what caused the blue - possibly reflected light that was somehow filtered ?
