The white tulips were among the flowers that were most impacted by the wind, rain, snow, and hard freeze. One advantage of the damage to the white tulips was that I was able to get up close to get this shot. The tulip petals were almost as open as daisy petals.
I was amazed that the wintry weather this week did not do more damage to the plants. The plants are more resilient than I thought they were. Of all of the plants I covered, I only had one lambs ear plant freeze and die. One asparagus stalk withered when the covering blew off of it. I did not attempt to cover the spring flowers, because their stems are so easily bent. The narcissus and the white tulips were the ones more affected by the wintry time this week. In town, the magnolia tree blossoms have brown edges. The agriculture people say that the crops from the fruit trees may be damaged. I hope this is it for Winter. I am ready for Spring to stay this time!
Beautiful macro Daisy! Spring can be like that- give you the impression that the warm weather is permanent and then clobber you with a wintry mix. But we're all in agreement with you in hoping that this time the warm weather will stay. Great shot!
