I have always been told that there are various aspects of being human. One of these aspects is the spirituality or religious aspect. This aspect means different things to different people. To me, the religion is a very important part of who I am. I won't dwell on that. Instead, I will share the story behind this photo. My church has decided to go through rennovation, repair and remodeling of the church building in several phases. One of the phases has involved moderizing the structure, including the installation of newer windows. Some people got together to create the modernization project shown in the photo. A golden cross used to hang in front of a red velvet cloth on the front wall of the sanctuary. The modernization group worked in almost secrecy week after week to create this stain glass window and the wooden cross in front of it. The wall is in front of the pipes for the organ and is not an outside wall. Therefore, the window is lit up by light bulbs behind the window. Although I personally am old fashioned enough to like the old cross better, I like the thought that a group of people cared enough to create this stain glass window for my church. It does modernize the sanctuary and does give the sanctuary its only stain glass window. Other religious symbols can be found in this photo. In the next several days, I hope to share photos showing the other aspects of being a human. I wonder what symbols I can find for each of these aspects.
Our church sold the pipe organ quite some time ago (no one could really play it) and replaced it with an electric organ. So they too put up a wooden cross with some stained glass work around it. I can say it's awful but it doesn't really match the other stained glass windows of the church. Still it's rather nice. Good shot and story.
