These layers of ice look deep to me in this photo. In reality, the frozen mud puddle might only be an inch deep at this point. Most of the puddle is just a sheen of water over mud. There are two mini puddles within the mud puddle. At night, the puddle freezes. In the daytime, the puddle has been thawing and evaporating. The weather forecast calls for rain and snow over night and tomorrow. Perhaps, the puddle will fill up with water once again.
