Over the weekend, several bird species appeared: a wood thrush, white crowned sparrows, a hummingbird and the rose breasted grosbeak. This photo is of a male grosbeak. All of the birds that showed up this weekend, with the exception of the hummingbird, are rare visitors to my yard. I am glad to see the newcomers. The male grosbeak is especially a nice showy addiiton to the backyard bird population.
This photo makes me laugh. The sparrow in the background seemed to know that I was photographing the grosbeak. Whatever the grosbeak did, the sparrow did in an exaggerated fashion. Who knew I would find a sparrow with a sense of humor!
This photo is for the photo club September theme of birds and possibly for the animal category of the September fair photo contest. In May, I am trying to concentrate on taking the photos I need for the photo club themes and for the photo contests I plan to enter. In this way, I hope to beat the heat and humidity.
Great shot- haha that Sparrow really does seem to be trying to get your attention! I've got a photo club challenge I should be taking pictures for too. I have some done but I really need to get busy! Thanks for reminding me!!
