The end of February marks the end of this scene. My city has gotten a grant to remove this structure and to build a new one. A long time ago, possibly one hundred years ago or longer, workers built two railroad bridges over a street, which later became a state highway. One bridge carried the northward bound trains and the other bridge carried the southward bound trains. Over the years, the trucks became bigger and taller. The thirteen feet nine inch clearance no longer allowed the taller trucks to pass under the bridges. At least twice a year, some unsuspecting (and unthinking) truck driver gets his/her truck rig stuck under the bridges. The traffic is tied up until the wrecked truck can be removed. Since the railroad line is no longer used by trains, the bridges no longer transport trains. The train line has been transformed into a biking and hiking trail that stretches a long way across my state. Before the bridges are removed, I decided to photograph the scene (bridges, concrete structure, and stairways to the sidewalks running by the highway). This view is looking up between the two bridges and was taken from the north sidewalk running underneath the bridges.
During February I participated in the 2016 Flash of Red. After this month, I feel more comfortable with black and white photography. However, I plan to do a mixture of color and BW in the month of March. Spring is almost upon the area in which I live in. Spring brings many colors and I want to be able to photograph the spring scenes in color.
Are they still going to have something that will allow the bikers and walkers to cross over the road? Good shot Daisy- great pov and nice use of shape and tone. Your month looks great and the Dogwood blossom was a beautiful choice for that pop of color!
