Whenever the blackberry bushes bloom, there is a chance for Blackberry Winter. Blackberry Winter is an extreme cold snap, when we can even have snow. I don't have any blackberry bushes, but I do have one gooseberry bush. This bush is currently blooming. We have not had any snow, but we have had one hard freeze during the blooming of the gooseberry. In this photo, you can see the gooseberries forming and the various bloom stages. I already have a craving for gooseberry pie.
