It has been storming off and on for a few days. I went outside to take pictures of the clouds right before the first wave of storms hit for the day. The clouds were moving quickly. I thought this particular cloud formation was quite different. The clouds were vertical at the base. At the top, the clouds bent over at almost ninety degree angles. Shortly after I took this picture, it began to rain and hail. I feel fortunate that my house and yard experienced very little damage. The dogwood tree blossoms were shredded and blown off the tree and landed twenty plus feet from the tree. One wall of my plastic greenhouse collapsed in the wind. Fortunately, we were home and we were able to raise the wall back up when the storm let up some. There were many power outages in my town. These were caused by trees falling onto the electric lines and by the electric lines being sheered off by the wind. Fortunately, the power stayed on at my house. Some buildings had their roofs ripped off by the high wind. The wind blew at 60 to 75 miles per hour. I don't know how fast the wind blew at my house, but it roared like some kind of wild animal. Stormy days and nights! I will be glad when the storms finally pass through this area.
