The Past, The Present, and the Future

While I was taking my daily shots, I was also reflecting on how things change. The church building that my parents helped build when I was about eight years old has been town down and a new church building is being built. I no longer live in that area, but "the old places" still tug on my heart. Then, my thoughts changed to how the new governor is favoring private schools over public schools. My mind was dwelling on these changes when I glanced up and saw my Christmas decoration of a one room school in front of our anniversary clock (which we received as a gift for our 25th wedding anniversary). Behind these two are a new wooden figure that I bought this last summer. I realized that this would be my shot for the day to symbolize that things change as time passes by. P.S. This shot is a bit soft. I used my camera that does not have a good flash, so I do not use the flash. Since I am using sooc images until late December or beyond, I did not use any editing software to sharpen up this image.
Some interesting thoughts, Daisy. I struggle with change - can see some good, but hate to give up traditions. A blending of the past and present/future is what this represents to me. Nicely thought out.

It's not easy to adjust to the way things change sometimes. I waver between accepting it and wishing it wouldn't happen. I miss the older traditions but enjoy some of the new ones my children are making. Life goes on, but sometimes I wish it was a better blend of old and new. The soft focus works well here- adds that touch of nostalgia you were feeling when you took it.

Lovely shot and thanks for sharing your sentiments. Being attached to the past is part of humans, I should say. We sold the house where I lived for most of my youth years after my parents died and now there's a block of flats in its place. For me this has become a different street than the one I knew.

@sangwann @pyrrhula Thank you for your comments. I grew up in a farm house on a small farm in the country. Now, the farm land has been divided into house lots. It is strange to see my childhood home in the midst of the suburb area of a large city.

Daisy, I am with you on change...it seems to come much too often and sometimes without thought of what is being changed. More often it is "change for change's sake". Lovely photo of the school.
