Election Day!! by danette

Election Day!!

I walked up to our polling place this morning as I had already voted. Ran into a friend who was campaigning for someone running for office. I wanted to get a photo of the VERY long line. This section represents probably 10% of the line. I was far away so that I didn't intrude on the people. After looking at the photo, I noticed my two sons there in line! Imagine that! I knew they were there, but at that exact spot?? Youngest son is in the white shirt yawning as he had already been waiting 2.5 hours. Oldest son is a bit hidden behind him in the blue shirt. They both attended this elementary school. I am proud they have both voted for the RIGHT person! :-)
Happy Election Day!! I guess 40 minutes wasn't bad this morning, then?

@raineyday Not at all! My oldest just told me that it took another hour after voting just to scan the ballot since they only had one scanner and our ballot is 4 pages double sided!

Great capture of the election day

What a cool shot! They're having voting here at the school today and the lines are long here too. I'm sure glad I voted early!!!

@clmiller Thanks, Caren! A while back, they declared a school holiday on election day to protect the kids. A friend early voted on Saturday and waited 6.5 hours!

@danette Oh, wow. Here in Texas my vote doesn't count so much, because we're going for Romney anyway. In Florida, we NEED your vote so your state will go RED!!! :)

@clmiller We are doing our best! One son's girlfriend didn't vote (not registered here)...which may be a good thing for us and other son's girlfriend is probably going against us...but my whole family voted! We are actually in a very Democratic county here. Holding my breath and knowing that ultimately God's in charge.

wow, what a long line. Glad everyone's exercising their right to vote. Our schools let out as well.

@rhondatn Thanks for your comments. Hope yours went well! Our schools no longer have a holiday on election day. I don't know when it changed.

Cool. We had long lines around here too.

What are the odds that you would take picture of your sons ? That's awesome.
November 7th, 2012
Too funny! I would be yawning, too - wow that is a long time to wait. Big day for you guys - our papers are saying that it is neck and neck??

Great candid shot!

very fun capture!

@pjonas Thanks for your comments, Patty!

@bardejov Especially considering the very long line. I didn't look for them or text them because I thought they'd be buried somewhere.

@purdey Yeah, more neck and neck than it appears. Not sure if Florida's count is even registered yet as the last voted was in at 1:00 AM!

@myautofocuslife Thank you, Livia!!

@bobbyj Thanks, Bobby!

Wow -- long lines, and well, not the results you (or I) were hoping for, but still good to exercise the right to vote. How funny that you happened to catch your sons in line!!

I early voted a week ago Sunday, and the line was maybe 10 minutes, if that.

Not that it matters, but has Florida figured out yet who the state went for?

@ariel817 Took me 90 minutes to early vote. I heard some people were voting for 45 minutes. I am guessing they didn't read the ballot ahead of time????

I have lost interest in hearing about whether or not Florida is finished tabulating. It is inexcusable that the polling places in Miami-Dade were understaffed and unprepared. Let us not lose site of our country's foundations.

Your lines were incredible...and I agree that in this modern age there is no excuse for either the long lines or the wait in tabulations.
