It was such a beautiful day, I had to take this last photograph of our old church. About 20 years ago, it was built. I suppose it was never meant to be as the church immediately fell on hard times. My dad and I actually worked with the bondholders committee and saved the church millions of dollars. However, the toll I took for doing so caused me to leave and find a "safer" place to worship. After years of struggle, the church has now been sold. I had another church who would buy it, but they were not interested in selling to another church. A developer now owns the property and will be constructing something else. How sad is that? I am thankful that God survives the antics of man.
Interesting building! Yip, as long as we remember the 'church' is the people and not the construction.... man's antics will always disappoint and sadden us.... God never will.
Another example of the church being "over the top" in design...with a weak "foundation". The building rarely has anything to do with the prosperity, success or failure of the congregation. It sure isn't helpful to burden the congregation with unnecessary debt. Then, it all begins to be about "the money".
Thank you so much for your comments. I have known for a while it would happen but now know the time is near. I am glad the cross will be saved. I wish I could get the pew we paid for! Would be the best news if this congregation gets on the right path now.
Such an interesting looking building....people not looking so much to the glory of God as the glory of self perhaps. A terrible shame that you should ever feel unsafe in a place of worship.
